I was working on Yuri and Daniel's pictures and came across me getting a shot of the bride coming down the aisle.

Yuri and Daniel at the Indiana Statehouse
"You are a beautiful couple," toasted the best man at the reception. Yuri and Daniel were truly made for each other, and photographing them was awesome. We had the statehouse to ourselves and my assistants and I were like kids in a candy store. The lights were huge, bright chandeliers, putting a warm glow around everything. At the reception the sun was setting and we took advantage of it to get several fun shots. I'm working on the album, but here are some highlights.

Kristen and Steven's Wedding
Kristen and Steven got married on April 12th at the Plainfield United Methodist Church. The church had side windows by the altar and stained glass windows along the side walls, which were great for natural light portraits. Kristen looked radiant walking down the aisle with her brothers, which got Steven a bit choked up. Here are some favorites.

Spring Break '08 in Washington, DC
We visited Washington, DC in early April for spring break. Kristi and I both love American history and the kids love any hotel that has a pool, so it was a match. We made sure to stay within walking distance of the monuments and restaurants. My favorite was Robert E. Lee's home, which is located at Arlington National Cemetery and has a great view of DC (refresher: Lee's Arlington estate was confiscated by the US Government, then later made into a national cemetery). I nearly forgot to bring the camera; thanks to Kristi's list it made it into the van. Here are some snapshots, starting with some interior shots of Lee's house and Arlington Cemetery.

Lisa and Darin's Wedding
Lisa and Darin got married on Feb. 9th at Valle Vista Club in Greenwood. Their family and friends were all so nice - a pleasure to work with. Darin drives a semi, so he brought his rig over for some fun shots. I can't wait to finish the album. Here are some highlights.

Jessica's High School Senior Portraits
When Jessica came over, I was my usual chatty self. Getting to know my client brings out a bit of personality. I found her to be so sweet.

Jennifer and Nathan got married on December 29th at the Scottish Rite Cathedral and had a reception at the Allison Mansion. My assistant and I couldn't get over how fun it was to photograph them. Here are some of the highlights.

My Switch to Canon
This was the year I switched from Nikon to Canon. I needed better performance at high ISO's for weddings and receptions, which generally occur in dark places. Within a week after my switch, Nikon came out with the D3, which resolved the ISO issue and trounced Canon. I was at DeFabis Photography and had the opportunity to test the D3 at 6400 ISO in a dark corner of his studio. The images looked well lit and had virtually no noise, like 400 ISO on a 30D. Quite impressive. I had just sold the last of my Nikon lenses, so thoughts of switching back were just, sigh . . . wishful.

Meyer Family Visit to Wolf Park
For Thanksgiving we visited the wolf park in Lafayette, Indiana. There's a pack of wolves and coyotes, bison, and foxes in separate enclosures. Friday was howl night with a full moon. They actually howled back when we howled. They took a special interest in our 4-year-old (on the other side of the fence!) because she's small enough to be fair game. We had three howling girls all the way home. Here are pictures through the fence.

Corey and Rachael's Wedding Reception
Here's a slideshow of Korey and Rachael's wedding reception in August, 2007. It was an outdoor event, with tents set up for guests, delicious summer food, and kids swimming in the pool. The weather was balmy and some of the guests were throwing bean bags. I warmed Korey and Rachael up with some basic poses, and they came up with their own variations. Check it out.
